I was skeptical at first, thinking that a large number of wires indicates a complexity beyond my expectations. I just wanted to send a few bytes between two devices and it seemed like overkill. So I went down the rabbit hole with some other radios and found that the cheaper and simpler radios aren't all that cheap (or even simpler) when you factor in the extra antennas and extra hardware needed to power them. . I ended up going back to those radios and trying them out. Hallelujah! They work! They just work.
