Rugged design, you know you will see the object accurately because the probe is narrow at the end. Not that this product will give you a general idea of where the cable is. Where you drill a hole in the wall/where the cable is actually good is your fault/blame hahaha. I have 2 and love them. I like that the button has to be held down so it doesn't spill into my work bag when the button is pressed (which is a common occurrence with other toners I've had). I also like that the speaker is very loud so you can hear the sound even when working on a busy street.
