Review on TRENDnet TC-TP1 Network Signal Testing Probe with Adjustable Volume, Speaker and Compatibility for TC-NT2 by Committed Schmidt

I am an IT volunteer at my church where we have a small network that spans 2 buildings with about 50 workstations/servers/network devices. As we've grown over the years, we (I) haven't always carefully labeled our cables. As a result, it's sometimes difficult to diagnose connection problems since we're not sure which port the device is using. I recently bought a new Fluke Micromapper - Fluke Networks MicroMapper MT-8200-49A Network Testing Device - D20256 to test our cable. constantly. It has a built-in tone generator that Fluke says is compatible with most analog tone sensors. The Trendnet sensor had generally good reviews and was significantly cheaper than the Fluke equivalent, so I bought it for my toolbox. I'm happy to report that these two devices work great together. I started my inventory project and the trendnet probe was working fine. I practiced with the cable at home and found that the loudest noise was heard when I placed the probe parallel to the cable with the tip pointing along the cable towards the generator. The sound gets even louder if I unplug the patch cords from the switch first. In summary, my network inventory project is relatively easy thanks to the right tools.
