Must be within a few inches of the GPS device to be located

Must be within a few inches of the GPS tracker to be located. More than 8 inches and no signal is received. Also only fires when pinged, so has to stay in place and wait for the ping to be detected. Not a very reliable product. It takes several hours to sweep the car successfully
