Review on SMALLRIG Tabletop Tripod, Compact Mini Desktop Travel Tripod with 360° Ball Head and Quick Release Plate - Lightweight Aluminum Alloy for DSLRs, Compact Cameras, Phone, Gopro (Black) by Billy Braggs

For the last 20 years I have worked as a video/media professional using a variety of equipment of all sizes, qualities and prices. I have several SmallRig products in my arsenal that I use as a bridge between my many cameras and related accessories. Right out of the box I was impressed by the solid build quality and compact size of this table tripod. I have used many types of tripods. desktop tripods, but this one is by far the most durable and versatile. This block cost me $40. and judging by the competition for similar products, I expect this one to be 2-3 times more expensive than it actually is. I have tested many cameras on it including; Sony A7s (pictured), Canon T3i, BlackMagic Micro Cinema Camera etc. But what really surprised me was that it was able to hold my 10lb Blackmagic Ursa Mini with just the right balance. Not that I normally mount such a large, heavy camera on it, but for a test it was nice to see it hold the weight. This tripod is ideal for medium and large mirrorless and SLR cameras and medium-sized camcorders. For me it's all about being compact for travel. Excellent low profile for a stable low center of gravity. Resistance for smooth shooting with a 50mm lens. Something I did not expect and very satisfied. The ball head has a sufficient adjustment and a good firm hold. It's nice to see that you can pull and twist the two locking knobs to keep the plate and chamber out of contact with the knobs. The bubble level on the plate lock knob is also a handy touch for portraits. The device conveniently folds for a compact design without sacrificing its strength and durability. It's also nice to see an all-metal design, which I think is SmallRig's main hallmark. Awesome riveted rubber feet with high quality thick rubber for secure grip at different angles. The ball head can also be easily removed and attached to any 3/8" male threaded device such as Magic Hands or Super Clamps. Yesterday I used this ball head to attach to a slide on a shoot and it worked great. Love it this tripod because of its excellent design. , durability and fantastic price!
