Tried this with a Sandisk 250GB SSD as a large fast "USB stick". No connection problems, speed up to 240 MB/s. But the 4 inch cable, while suitable for a laptop, is too short for a desktop. The device always hangs halfway to the case on the USB port. The best choice for desktop computers is the Sabrent adapter listed below. It's $3 more, but you get a two-foot cable and UASP capability. The latter is a higher-speed protocol supported by some USB3 ports that are (I assume) more common on the desktop. With this adapter to USB3/UASP I see up to 360 MB/s. portable use and can easily break if subjected to side loads, so I treat it like an eggshell and only connect the adapter to the drive for actual data transfer, not for transport or storage.
