Review on Jura 66281 Decalcifying/Descaling Tablets - Keep Your Coffee Machine Clean with 9 Powerful Tablets by Robert Chandrasekar

Descale from time to time, even if you use Jura filters!

I have had a Jura S8 for almost ten years now and five years ago I had a Jura. I chose the way with filters instead of without filters/decalcification. To be honest, we loop through filters often enough that I won't change them when prompted, at least not right away. Finally, I use water that has already been filtered through our fridge filter, so changing it every few months seemed like excessive. In the time that I had our cars, I sent them to Yura for service a couple of times and it seemed like we should have been on time. The coffee poured very slowly and my usual tricks didn't work. As a last chance I got myself descaling tablets and had to persuade the machine to let me descale - I had to turn off the filter function and then run descaling. I did it skeptically and Voilà! the coffee flowed as it should, right after. I noticed that since I didn't change the filter as often as I should, after years I got calcification, albeit at a slower pace! It made perfect sense, although I think it's an error in the instructions. Even if the filter is set to On, you must be allowed to descale. And as a matter of good practice, one would think that descaling on a less frequent schedule would make sense. I will do that from now on. Note: My instructions for the S8 said to use two square tablets and they come in 3x3 packs. So for me this pack of nine gives me 4 1/2 descaling.
