I matched the FCC ID number to my original 2021 Ford Escape, programmed it and it works fine. The key looked the same as the original except for the symbol on the hood button, it is for the F150 truck instead of the SUV. Programming was easy. I found online programming guide for 2020 Escape. This worked on my 2021 Escape SEL. You need two working keys in the car with you. Programming time is important, it took me several attempts. Total programming time took about 15 seconds when this worked. I programmed it like this: Remove the small rubber mat on the front of the console under the USB port. Insert the new key into the rectangular slot with the buttons facing up and the key ring facing the driver. Have all doors and two working smart keys with you in the car. I placed two keys a few inches apart on the center console. Start programming by pressing the door opener button 3 times (within approx. 1-1 1/2 seconds). Press and release the brake pedal once. Press the door lock button three times. Press and release the brake pedal once. The engine start/stop button should flash rapidly. Press the start/stop button. A message should appear on the center console stating that the new smart key has been successfully programmed. Remove the new key and press the lock or unlock button to complete programming. All functions on the new key now worked.
