Needed a laptop stand for my work laptop and I wanted something strong so it wouldn't tip over so I can do something with my 'tech neck'. I was planning to install Synergy on my laptop so I can use my desktop mouse/keyboard with my laptop. I realized that I just needed enough effort to get the stand in place, but as I gathered all my strength and started moving the hinge, I realized how reliable this stand was going to be. If it can hold my Marshall amp (17 pounds) I think it's good enough for most laptops.
