As a chef and author of The Diet Bible and The Bachelor's Bible (bachelorsbible.com), I researched and knew the best foods to use in the kitchen, as well as cheaper, thinner, flatweave or herringbone towels. I hate microfiber towels for most kitchen uses and prefer 100% cotton, which dries quickly, absorbs water and doesn't stain. I love these towels and the price here is good but they are double the price of the thin ones but well worth it. You need three so you have one for the fridge handle to dry your hands, one for drying dishes and pots and one in the bathroom to use as a face towel and hand towel. They will last 10 years if you wash them in Tide instead of tumble drying and line drying. After several washes, they become absorbent because the sizing had to be washed off. Never use a softer cloth as this will damage the towels. Do not use bleach, use Tide with alternative bleach, bleach damages fibers.
