I needed something for a dog who had surgery to convince him not to jump out of his chair or out of his chair. She's stubborn and I knew that standard unit steps would be a problem with the surgical taper (short legs) and I didn't think she would do well with a regular ramp. When it arrived it was in such a small box that I was worried, but overnight it "grew" to the advertised size. I've read reviews where people said they couldn't figure out how to put the cap on and I didn't get it - it's pretty simple and obvious how it works. We put a plastic sheet on the sides as we have men who can be jerks at times, you know what I mean. But so far (perhaps half a year?) no problems. But it would be a great benefit to make the case waterproof! One of my concerns was the size as it would protrude from the chair. No problem. When we face it (and believe me we do!), it's gentle and not a problem. But it's strong enough to support our dogs from 5 to 40+ pounds. Strange how it works, isn't it? Anyway, our operated dog accepted it immediately and others, even the little diva "I don't take steps, please pick me up" used it several times a day now. That it is a stairway of sorts but in the form of a ramp is perfect for this group of seniors and people with special needs. They don't have to climb stairs, but they don't have to slip or trip on a ramp either. Ideal! Every now and then when the chair is full I find one of them putting their head on the chair lol. a few states south of us. As soon as I called about this, another was sent and got here quickly. Things happen but the response was exactly as it should have been and I couldn't be happier. Overall this is a great product!
