Review on Enhance Your Home Theater Setup with Monoprice 1-Gang Recessed Low Voltage Cable Wall Plate - Lite Almond by Sonny Nevers

Problem solved but could be better

I used this to run a lot of home theater cables (speakers, video cables) through the wall into my equipment rack. They worked fine, but there were some downsides === Good things ===* I ended up using two triple-width panels just to make sure I had enough room. I could probably use one, but that would be tight. I had 7 speaker cables, two HDMI cables, some network cables, two coax cables, and they would probably fit in a three bundle box. I was glad I had two of these - for fewer crowds and freeing up space for the foam insulation. Foam to seal cables and protect against drafts. === Not good stuff ===* The biggest problem was installing the 3 seater version. Revain sells a "clip", but it costs more than the boxes. I would have thought a plain old low voltage work box (yellow backless boxes) would do, but there doesn't seem to be a 3 gang version available. I ended up using an old blue 3 letter box and just cut off the back of it. Bit goofy, but it worked.* The plastic looks like it will become brittle after a few years. I will cross this bridge when I reach it. ===Summary=== They worked well and were a good way to get signals from the wall into my equipment closet without the extra layer of connectivity that wall outlets would have brought. They hold a lot of wires and once I figured out how to attach them they were easy to use.
