Exo Terra Ceramic Heater Fails

Exo Terra PT2048 Ceramic Heater 250W 110V It does exactly what it says on the tin and I've used it with the "essential" Exo Terra wired light. It lasted 4 months and failed. I found that it didn't radiate heat when my bearded dragon became unusually inactive. It turned out that the lamp base, where the hot side of the circuit touches the tongue in the cartridge, burned out and disconnected from the lamp base, and the lamp itself burned out. The boss in the socket was black, as if overheated or bent. With the Exo Terra, the heater only needs to be used with a wired outlet, which is why I bought it. It is also designed for 5 years. Mine lasted 4 months and 10 days. Ordered again, let's see how it goes. My terrarium is large and needs a 250w ceramic heater to maintain the temperature. While he worked, he did his job. I plan to contact the company and see what they have to say. One more note: although this is a 250w heater, I still needed a heat lamp and infrared lamp to keep the hot side of my terrarium warm. It wasn't a problem, but it's worth noting that 250 watts isn't enough.

Pros
  • Emits Natural "Solar" Infrared Heat
Cons
  • Great Price
