I'm a herbalist, incense maker and natural perfumer. I needed a spice grinder with additional {removable} bowls. I use a coffee grinder to grind the resin (put it in the freezer first!) and it should have a removable bowl so it's much easier to clean! These stainless steel bowls are fantastic. If resin sticks to the bowl or blade I just add a teaspoon of olive oil, shake and the resin just wipes off. I love that it comes with 3 bowls, it's absolutely perfect for my needs. Each bowl has its own set of blades, which is great because you can just pop in a different bowl instead of switching blades from bowl to bowl. I use one bowl for incense, another for herbs and spices, and a final bowl for food/coffee/breadcrumbs. Other spice grinders I've had tend to get hot when used to grind something very hard (like resin). This is not good for the incense maker, the heat can melt the resins, dispersing the aroma and making cleanup very difficult. This spice grinder generates very little heat, especially when pulsed. Compared to other coffee grinders I've had, let's just say this one really impressed me! This is a powerful coffee grinder, I expected more from Kitchen Maid, I have never received anything less than the best from this brand. I also have their mini food processor which is just as good. I have other Kitchen Maid appliances that I have used for many years so not only do I trust this brand for what it is supposed to do, I trust this brand for a very long time if not forever! This is a great spice grinder and definitely worth a few bucks more because it will outlive and outperform all the others. Trust me this is my 4th spice grinder in years and it's worth sooo a few bucks more!
