Review on Phanteks PH EC500ATG_BK01 Full Metal Mid Tower Tempered by Justin Sherman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great airflow, no RGB, bring more fans when you buy it.

Like #1: Great airflow. Like #2: Excellent dust filter screen placement and mounting method. The magnetic grid on top was a nice touch instead of the old plastic spring clips (Phantek's Enthoo Luxe) that wore out. Like #3: Sleek, minimalist style with magnetic and closed tempered glass side panel is eye-catching. Like #4: Excellent cable management. Like #5: Great modularity to install EITHER a hard drive or a pump/tank cooling solution for those who love water cooling. Like #6: Great options for fans (3 front, 1 rear, 3 top or heatsinks front) or top or even a small heatsink at the back. For example #7: the adapter plate with thumbscrews to attach the power supply (regular screws for the power supply to the adapter plate and then thumbscrews for the adapter plate to the case) was a good thing; Didn't know I needed this until I got it Example #8: Anti-sag bracket for PCIe cards Example #9: Optional vertical GPU bracket with two positions so one doesn't completely restrict airflow. (I don't use it, but it's a good option). For example #10: 3 x 3.5" SATA SSD bays. For example #11: No. RGB. (This is purely personal, but I hate RGB and that's why I chose it over the Phanteks P500A Digital. Dislike #1: It only has 2 front fans. It would be great if it had 3 front fans (like the Phanteks P500A Digital) instead of two fans. Dislike #2: The gap is too small for some large motherboards (EATX) that use down-facing connectors that are parallel to the PCB plane rather than perpendicular to the PCB plane. For example, I had to clean up the case a bit to include the X99 Classified's USB 2.0 port. big motherboard.

Pros
  • It's amazing
Cons
  • It's ok
