I was trying very hard to get my VR headset (Oculus Rift S) to work on my old computer (2008 Gigabyte EP45-UD3R, Intel Quad Core 3GHz, GTX 980, 8 GB RAM) which only has USB2. I followed the recommendations of various websites and tried 4 or 5 different USB sticks. It's the only one that almost worked. Everyone else, even an Inatek card with its own power connector, always left the VR headset with USB issues like "Insufficient USB bandwidth" or "Cannot track headset" error messages. With this card I was able to run a VR video/application and when I moved the headset I could see the view change on my monitor. Unfortunately, the headset itself didn't have a display yet (the headset works fine on another, newer machine), neither the GTX 670 (which would have been too old for VR anyway), nor the GTX 980 (which should work perfectly). ok with VR). So Startech is maybe twice the price compared to cheap cards, but the quality seems there. If your computer isn't as old as mine and you're having USB-related VR issues, I recommend trying this card first. For my part I think I will give up VR on this PC (after trying so many different things for 2 months).
