I first bought a Philips home security camera - two of them - when they were just coming out and very expensive. The picture was terrible and they had no night vision. Usually they weren't worth the money. I haven't wanted to buy anything new for a long time. But when TP-Link showed up at a reasonable price and with the usual quality, I joined their beta program and gave it a try. I'm always amazed at the picture quality. I can zoom in (via the accessibility of my iPhone) to a fairly large one and overhear my little old cat as she investigates things she shouldn't be doing and I can even talk to her here despite her ignoring me. I was in the hospital and some friends were taking care of my cat and I was able to use the camera and our voices to tell them where everything is and what lights to stay on. I also had to have the pest control company take a look while I was away and was able to not only see everything they were doing (they were absolutely professional) but also hear everything they said. For the price this camera is a godsend and it can also record using sensitivity zones small enough to catch my cat climbing into kitchen cupboards. It's worth your time if you have such a need.
