Stop working after 2 months

Use with to connect a 12 inch Macbook to a monitor. I particularly liked the pass-through charging, which allows you to charge the laptop while it's connected to the monitor. Worked well for the first few months and then the screen started flickering endlessly - blinking between the working display and black (no connection). This went on for hours so that the plug became unusable. Tried to remove HDMI cable. which didn't help Seems like a loose connection and I don't want to reconfigure too much lest I damage the laptop's only port.
