It's heavy and strong but soft on the inside so it won't scratch laptops. All you have to do is loosen the adjustable slot, secure the laptop and tighten. I use it for my Macbook Pro, my work laptop (14") and my iPhone. Saves a lot of space. I can also use my personal and work iPhone in portrait mode or just my personal iPhone in landscape mode and watch videos while I work. This one Phone or tablet stand on both sides is an added advantage over other laptop stands.I tried the self-made stand with an empty Amazon box before choosing this professional stand.A definite upgrade for the laptop stand.
