Review on 🔨 Metabo HPT NT65A5 16 Gauge Straight: Powerful and Precise Nail Gun by Patrick Reid

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Professional finishing gun.

I've been a carpenter finisher for 20 years. This is the best 40 acre gun ever made. I've had several of these over the years. When Hitachi ceased production sometime in 2006, I called them in Japan and asked them to make these guns again. I don't know if I helped bring it back but I'm glad it's being offered again. Today there are no more such weapons. Passlode used to release a professional model, but it has also been discontinued. This gun shoots straight 16 gauge nails suitable for doors and baseboards, crowns etc. Some people like heavier 15 gauge nails for doors, but they cost a lot more. I think 16s will fit most doors and all trim. This is a heavy shotgun, the only true professional finishing shotgun. The magazine is made of metal and offers space for 3 Rick's nails. This is of great importance when nailing a lot of baseboards.

Pros
  • NO-MAR TIP: No-MAR tip on nose protects work piece from accidental marking
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
