Review on Enhance GPS Signal Strength with Garmin 010-11282-00 Antenna Extension Cable for GTM by Marcus Hargrave

Great for those who have HD reception on the edge.

The Garmin antenna extension cable offers a modest improvement, but even a modest one can make a world of difference for HD receivers. Since I switched from an analog traffic device to an HD device, I've found that my traffic updates are more frequent when I'm in signal; but I have a much smaller reception. I am now finding that unlike my HD Radio, Garmin HD Traffic units cannot receive regular analog signals (please comment if this is a bug so I can update my review). I live near the Washington DC subway, so my signals are usually a mix of HD and analog. Here this antenna ensured that my navigation system's traffic function worked most of the time, whereas in the past it rarely worked. As soon as I get closer to the city, the system works perfectly both with and without the antenna. I would recommend this to people who are on the edge of HD reception. If sometimes you get a signal and sometimes you don't, this antenna is a lifesaver. If you never get a signal, don't expect it to make a difference. Finally, I've heard people use the antenna to move their GPS further into the car; I've tried moving my device around in the car with and without the antenna and I can confirm that it really helps. I'm not sure why you would want the device removed from the windshield (you can dash mount the device if it's against the law to fit a window in your area), but if you want to do that, this device will help.
