This little block is just what I needed. It worked great for me for several months. With almost daily use! A little more, for those who need it! Before I bought this I had no idea what I needed and if it would do the job! I used to have one that fitted on a propane tank. Which has a bigger flame. I found that out. Almost all are hot enough to be soldered, annealed and flame patinated. But the size of the flame determines how big a piece you can successfully process. This isn't the smallest flashlight I've seen. But that's on the small side. However! I make jewelry out of wire. And also make ball hair clips. I could raise a ball up to 18 gauge with no problem! It took a little practice to make a 16 gauge. But with the right technique it is possible! The main effort is to heat the whole piece to raise the temperature where you need it to melt. I doubt you could make a gauge thicker than 16. I would highly recommend this to anyone working with fine detail. Let's say followers and the like.
