Review on πŸ•’ Casio Men's G-Shock G9000-1 Sport Watch: A Durable and Stylish Timepiece for the Active Man by Paula Oster

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A resilient watch that does everything you need at a reasonable price.

I own this watch a week ago, it's my first and only G-Shock watch. I do a lot of mountain biking and bike camping and my "good" hours are always behind me. It seemed like a good cheap alternative to solid reliable watches. Here's what I like about this watch and why I choose it. First, they have everything you need. There are more fully functional watches out there, but do you need them? I don't need a thermometer, sunrise/sunset, moon phase or barometer. The compass may be good, but I can live without it. If you're the kind of person who needs these features, you know it. It's not solar powered, but that's the benefit of a low-maintenance watch. I also have solar powered watches but the battery is fine with me. Either way, they both need to be replaced within so many years, and solar requires more maintenance. I have to charge it twice a year, once under the summer sun and one night in winter by my powerful LED bike light. This clock is set and forgotten. They lack atomic radio synchronization. I have it on other watches and I like it. I have mild OCD so I checked the G-Shock time a week later, it's still the same second. I see a little difference. The Atomic G-Shock is around $200, this one is around $50. I can handle it. The fender has a raised back to prevent the watch from sticking to your wrist. If you're into a sport that makes you sweat, that's really nice. The main reason I like this watch is that it is a regular size. I have a 7 inch wrist and it is fully balanced for size. Most G-Shocks, especially the newest ones, have ballooned to monstrous proportions as if it makes you more manly. There's nothing wrong with a big watch, but it's not my style. There are very few mid-range G-Shocks, this is one of them. The buttons are a little hard to press as everyone has said. No big deal. After all, how can you beat the price? It's cheap and light. I can take it anywhere, smash trees with it, put it in my backpack, sweat it out, then wash it over the sink for a bit and it's like new. I look forward to wearing it for years to come. I'll probably get bored before it outlives its usefulness, but I'll keep updating this review.
