Review on GS569 600 Watt Auto Coaxial Speaker by Mohmed Burt

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It.is.good.average.

I wish I could praise as enthusiastically as others do, but I just can't pull it off. You pretty much get what you paid for here. First plus is that these speakers sound good enough, which means they sound good, not great, in my opinion. Unlike other reviewers, I found the baseline performance to be about average for a 6x9. I've tried them in door panels and an MDF box powered by a head unit amp and a separate 105 watt per channel Focal amp that has a really clean curve. The bass is ok, as are the highs. I also find the mids too weak. The second plus is quite obvious - the price. I paid more than an average pair of 6x9s in the 1980's. Economies of scale come at a cost, even for average speakers. The first downside is the build quality. The tweeter/midrange bracket on one of the speakers was glued well above the level of the rest of the speaker cabinet. I had one level and one out of level, I think the level version is the right approach. The second error might just be a personal issue, but why isn't there a cutout template in the box? It's so easy and cheap to provide one, and on the other hand almost a necessity if you need one and don't have one. Anyway, I was poking around my shop and found an old blown 6x9, removed the trim ring from it and it was close enough to work. Install them in door panels in an old Dodge D150 that I have. This is because higher fidelity speakers have very limited performance in a noisy vehicle (that's my truck). I think this is an inexpensive midrange that would be great for a car with a lot of noise. If you're looking for truly musical speakers, I think you'll need to invest a little more money.
