Review on 🩹 Mepitac 298300 Soft Silicone Tape – Versatile and Gentle Adhesive Tape for Wounds, Scars, and Medical Care by Jon Manning

After reading all the great reviews on it. I thought this would be a good product to use after a second breast reduction. It was cheaper than other brands and all reviews seemed positive. I started using it three weeks after my surgery, thinking the sooner the better. I used it with silicone gel. After the first week I started to see that the scars looked very bad; they darkened. I figured since everyone got great results I should keep going. It wasn't until I did a spot test on another scar on my body that I realized the darkening was caused by the tape. I'm African American so I'm prone to hyperpigmentation, but the scars are darker than my first surgery. I am 6 weeks post-op and have stopped using tape. Gel can be used, but I wouldn't recommend tape. I don't think it's good for dark skin, at least not in my opinion.
