I'd like to think that I'm tech savvy, have a radio technician license and use the chirp program to program other radios. This thing is pre-programmed with random frequencies so it won't work with your regular walkie-talkie. I was happy to read that this radio can be programmed but the chirp software is unable to connect. I had to dig but I was able to find the factory software and program the FRS frequencies so I could use them with our other radios. The problem is that this thing doesn't get any sound. It transmits and the light comes on as if it received a transmission but with no sound. I've tried tweaking the settings to no avail. Maybe I'll find out, but this thing just doesn't work.
