Easy to use, great price

I needed a radio for my mum that was easy to turn on and off and difficult to switch (to one I don't hear). I just programmed it with CHIRP in minutes and it worked fine. Even the VOX function is quite functional (my expectations were low). Range not sure, not a problem for us, works well through walls, had no problems with reception. Excellent quality and perfect for our needs.

It's lightweight yet durable.

The radio is excellent. We use it primarily on our own GMRS repeater to keep in touch with the community, although at 30 miles it easily hits a ham radio repeater. It's lightweight yet durable. I don't know if it's the seller or this version of the product but it didn't come with the charger so you'll have to order the charger separately or find one that comes with the charger. It is worth buying a charger.

Serious? A $20 ham radio?

440MHz FM radio in shirt pocket. For $20. I don't think satellites will work, maybe not even the ISS, but. I get into a few local repeaters, which is good. I ordered five pieces. Four radios came in a box. One turned out to be "used" but I didn't want to waste time negotiating with Revain and then packing the unit for shipping. For $20? But even if I throw the device straight into the trash from the opened packaging, the overall price is still acceptable.

Nice little UHF ham radio - used by CHIRP for .

Cute little UHF ham radio - used CHIRP for programming with Baofeng cable. I took over the frequencies of the repeater without any problems - decent performance - good sound - very compact. I immediately bought another one for my wife. Cover 16 channels more than the local 70cm repeaters. I wish it had high/low power control without getting into the programming. worth your money. The belt clip makes a fairly stable impression. A great radio for those times when you don't feel like lugging…

Great price and performance!

This small transceiver is an excellent UHF 400-470MHz WLN KD-C1 Walkie Talkie Transceiver Portable Mini Radio. ! I can't believe it's on sale for less than $16. It is easy to program with "CHIRP". The sound is very good. Better than some of my other HAM handhelds. What really surprised me was the range. I figured a small fixed antenna with an internal coil would be limiting. This turned out not to be the case. I have no problem connecting to a local repeater 15 miles away. Great little…

Survived the wash and still works like new

My WLN KD-C1 had a terrible moment. I forgot that this small/thin radio was in my shirt pocket and started washing the shirt. Got through a full wash cycle. After hearing a loud bang in the dryer for a few minutes, I went to find out what was going on. My radio lay between the drying clothes. Here's proof of those radios - I turned them on and they said they were on "Channel 2". I turned it off to see if there was water in the battery compartment and it was completely dry. That was a week ago…

Promised but unfortunately doesn't work

I'd like to think that I'm tech savvy, have a radio technician license and use the chirp program to program other radios. This thing is pre-programmed with random frequencies so it won't work with your regular walkie-talkie. I was happy to read that this radio can be programmed but the chirp software is unable to connect. I had to dig but I was able to find the factory software and program the FRS frequencies so I could use them with our other radios. The problem is that this thing doesn't get…

Sturdy piece of ham

Honestly I bought this radio to play with, so keep in mind that this isn't an expensive piece of equipment, it's a 'toy'. But this little guy is awesome! I'm a radio amateur and this thing can work very well with UHF repeaters. I'm not too far from the sticks, but I'm in a small town and it works like a real (ht) radio via repeaters! Programs with chirps last every 20 seconds and voila, on the air. The programmed frequencies are WTF's standard "Chinese guesses" you would expect from one of…
