Neither would flip up until I took the long bolt out did it manually then replaced the bolt. they dont go down unless it I the same. I'm not an operator, I dont expect to be in combat. I just have one of my rifles scoped and wanted iron sights also thought I'd try these. They feel very sturdy and the machining feels nice. If they worked I would be more happy but I didnt want to buy a 200$ 45 D iron sights on a rifle I use 3 times a year.
