Review on Philips MRV640 Magnavox DVD Recorder by Samuel Lewis

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nothing fantastic. But honestly DVD+R,+RW recorder.

Magnavox MRV640 DVD RecorderThe Magnavox MRV640 DVD Recorder has its pros and cons. However, I had no problems playing DVDs, CDs, and burning DVD+R,+RW. I love that you have a choice of up to 8 hours of recording time (depending on what discs you use). I had no problems using the audio and video inputs and outputs. I was able to easily connect my Magnavox MRV640 DVD recorder to my Panasonic VCR to back up my favorite videotapes. The disadvantages of the recorder are its manual control, remote control and the color of the user interface. . The instructions are black and white with multiple photos. It has everything you need to learn how to use the recorder, but it's not perfect. There is a lot to read. The remote control is easy to use once you get the hang of it. There are buttons that do more than one job, which is also not specified in the manual. Finally, the Magnavox interface will appear on your TV screen. The downside is that the colors are blue on blue, which can make the menus a bit difficult to see as there's little contrast. Also, the writing on the screen is small. The advantages of the Magnavox MRV650 DVD recorder are its good price for features such as progressive scan, up to eight hours of recording time and front panel inputs. It burns DVDs and finalizes them quickly. It doesn't take long to turn on. Recording begins almost immediately. The physical structure is also not a problem. You can record your favorite TV shows. I have called Magnavox customer service several times and they have always helped me. It's not quirky, if I wanted quirkiness I wouldn't have chosen it. Overall, however, I would say that this is a good DVD burner. I'm happy with that.
