I was really hoping I could use these to hold small open containers of store bought ice cream but they are about a half inch shorter. Damn. So they're best for people who want to make their own ice cream and keep it, and they're pretty good for that purpose. The containers appear to be completely leakproof - I filled some with water and shook them and not a drop of water came out. The jars are also thick and strong so they won't kink and open up air pockets in a crowded freezer. The tops are thick, flexible and close-fitting. FYI, I always cover the top of my ice cream with some plastic wrap, regardless of the storage container, so the top doesn't get uncomfortable.
