I have a 75 gallon aquarium with about 8 cichlids. I had a traditional aquarium heater that lasted about 2 years which is not bad. The worst part was this thing cracked and black balls appeared, I think it could be lead or mercury, and because it broke, of course there was also broken glass in my aquarium. So I had to get it out as soon as possible and clean the tank thoroughly to protect the fish. I wanted a heater that would be safe for my fish and avoid the incident I had with my old one. This heater heats up great and has a black sheath to protect the fish. If my fish rub against it, they won't get burned or curse. Mu giant catfish loves to cool off right under the heater and touch it with his back. There were constant burn marks on the back. With this heater, my catfish no longer has burn marks and can cool down comfortably under the heater. This heater was definitely worth it and I definitely recommend it to keep the fish safe.
