Review on GEFU Moscata Nutmeg Grater: πŸ§‚ Finely Grate and Enhance Your Culinary Creations! by Jill Weingartner

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The GEFU nut grater works great.

Christmas after GEFU I love it as you can see in my review below. But the following Christmas, the sharpening handle fell off the device. In many ways, this grinder is well designed, but the turning handle used in grinding came loose after using the grinder less than 50 times. In particular, the black handle broke off the stainless steel rod that connected to the coffee grinder assembly. The design just wasn't made to last. Luckily my neighbor, a retired mechanic, was able to fix the mill. He tapped the handle and inserted a small pan head screw through the metal bar into the handle. Without this fix, I'd have a piece of junk on my hands. I don't see why this shouldn't be a problem for most grinder owners. My previous rating was before it broke. This grater is really great. I've only used it to grate nutmeg on eggnog at Christmas. I've heard that fresh nutmeg is much better than pre-ground nutmeg, so I bought unground nutmeg and a hand grater to start with. I quickly realized that my knuckles would be minced meat before Christmas. So I searched the internet for a more mechanized way to grind nutmeg. Stores in my hometown of Temecula/Murrieta, California don't have this beast, so I went online and bought a GEFU 34670 nutmeg grater. Now I grate nutmeg like a champ without worrying about my knuckles. Only one nutmeg goes on the grater. The handle holds 4 to 6 nutmegs. I doubt the nuts stay as fresh in the larger Christmas-to-Christmas storage handle as they did in the original bottle. .
