The job of a grinder is to produce large quantities of finely ground nutmeg with ease. This mill has very sharp blades and grinds a lot of nutmeg very quickly. Its construction feels weaker than some others, but mine is still fine after a year and a half of almost daily use. Some other grinders are powerful enough to be run over by a truck BUT they don't cost a turd. If you need a coffee grinder that grinds, this is what you need.

We actually started out by buying a round Peugeot 19501 with an acrylic lid because I've liked Peugeot pepper grinders in the past. This nutmeg grinder is absolutely the worst. At first I tried for a very long time, but I could not grate the nutmeg. I tried and tried but I couldn't. It's a long story about phone numbers. This item is as worthy of a look as a Mercedes or a BMW among muscatel. Its German design has the same relationship to the more common French graters that these cars have to French cars. In other words, I find most other nutmeg graters, almost all French in origin or with French critical parts, very disappointing, while this one just grates nutmeg with no fuss. The controls are not very intuitive which I consider a design flaw for such a simple product. It's not as solid a feeling as one would like. The plastic parts feel light and I doubt they will survive many falls. Large whole nutmegs won't work until about 1/4 of the ones I have are too large. I use nutmeg in tea, coffee, pudding and other dishes as well as in spice mixtures for cider, mead and spiced beer. There is no comparison between fresh and pre-ground nutmeg, neither in aroma nor in taste! We had one of those scrapers they keep nuts in, and it hurt, and you usually couldn't eat a nut without getting the skin off the joints. This device is very well designed. Highly recommended, worth the money. Every morning we grind nutmeg for oatmeal. We started with a micro slicer and then after many skinning joints bought an inexpensive "acrylic" grater which was fine. But it was frustrating to refuel and just ahh when it came to turning the crank - a crude tool that wasn't fun. Christmas after GEFU I love it as you can see in my review below. But the following Christmas, the sharpening handle fell off the device. In many ways, this grinder is well designed, but the turning handle used in grinding came loose after using the grinder less than 50 times.
