My thumbnail always came off in a thin layer near the tip, then the whole end broke off. Although I've cut or filed with sandpaper, this has been going on for years. I bought a regular glass nail file from Sally Beauty Supply and discarded the attachments. Surprisingly, this sealed them so they no longer break or chip and grow well. I didn't realize there was a difference, but this file is not intended for polishing surfaces. Luckily I found these! They are amazing. It looks like I have a glossy layer of clear coat. As some say it's almost impossible to get to the cuticles and if you look closely there are a few small almost invisible spots between the ridges that he can't reach, but overall he has trimmed and smoothed each nail beautifully ! Using both files with this set gives great results. I am very happy about this purchase!
