We named her Rosie. We have one of those formulaic country homes with an unused living/dining room and kitchen/living room combination. These are all tiles except for the office carpet and the very deep 5x8 decorative carpet which needs to be high enough for the sensor to read. The first night I set a timer for the early hours and imagined waking up to a freshly mopped floor. Instead, she was running around the house like a drunk sailor at 3 a.m. looking for jack-in-the-box tacos. She drove into a dog guard, smashing it onto the ground and raising an alarm when she got stuck under it. I set the timer for a later time. On rare days she does her job with no problems, she is great. It fits under the sofa and perfectly collects dog hair. However, most days it doesn't run on schedule even with a timer set and I have to send it manually. The days when she starts alone go something like this: Rosie calls to say she's driving, takes a sharp right and runs onto the shaggy carpet, gets stuck, sets off the alarm. I pick them up and send them on. She walks to the chair, finds a way to squeeze under it despite the magnetic barrier I've placed around it, turns on the alarm, I release it and start it again. Squeezed right between the legs of a kitchen or dining room chair, the alarm goes off, I do it. Finds the base of an office chair, wedges between her legs, sets off the alarm, runs to the base of the floor fan, sets off the alarm, gets stuck behind the toilet, sets off the alarm, etc. Tries to keep the doors closed restricting where to go she goes but if i forget it seems like this is the first place she goes. I had to rescue her at least 5 times this morning, I honestly think she's just lazy. I know she's a robot, but she's a lazy robot. If a few days go by between starts because I forget to send it, I can actually see the difference. Floors are much cleaner when they are working properly. I can hear her typing this, something clicks beneath her as she drags it across the floor. sigh
