I went with this storage device rather than an HDD because I needed a medium that was dependable, voluminous, and small. When I take it around, I would like the connector to be protected by some kind of cap of some form. I'm still not sure what's going on with the flash drive, which is why it switches to read-only mode all of a sudden (one of the possible explanations is that the computer is going into sleep mode). Is there anyone else who has had such a terrible experience? (If there's anything more I do, I take out and put in the USB flash drive very gently, make sure it's turned off properly, and use it with EXTREME CAUTION). ate: The flash drive is still functional, and I have no major complaints about it. slips off occasionally (but not very frequently), going into protection mode. I am aware that the controller of the flash drive is attempting to shield me from the possibility of information being lost in this manner. But I have no idea why she behaves in that manner or what causes her to react in that manner. This occurs less frequently on the computer that has USB 3.0, but more frequently on the machine that has USB 2.0. I haven't been able to figure out the pattern just yet. The remedy for the issue is to disconnect and then reconnect after waiting ten seconds.
