Review on ๐Ÿณ Anova Sous Vide Precision Cooker Pro - 1200 Watts, Black/Silver by Jeremy Reddick

Don't waste your money, buy cheaper options that actually work.

I want to start with an old classic Anova and a Joule. Both are great cars. Ease of use etc. I was so excited when the Pro came out as I was making more and more large meals and the extra power and durability sounded great. In short: WiFi doesn't work and Anova support is terrible. Both in terms of response time and quality of actions. Finally gave up after the second machine didn't work either. Stick with the Nano or the regular machine. Don't waste your money with a professional. A more detailed explanation follows: When I received the product the product looked amazing but when I tried to connect it to my phone problems started. First quickly connected and then asked to update. Logically this is to be done. After that nothing worked. I've tried everything. I first got this in December so I went to the Anova website to see what the support options were. What a joke. The website verbatim says the app isn't machine supported, but an update is pending, but you can join the beta. Ironically I was on the beta and the beta site and it shut down because the working app had already been released. This set the tone for the rest of my "support experience". I've tried calling support multiple times. No Answer. Leave a voice message. I think that's a bad thing in itself, but hey, it's the holiday season. So I thought I'd give the "Support" chat a try. Now that's the real joke, because chat replies have literally been sold out FOR DAYS! I was given instructions that literally didn't work. For example, how to reset the firmware. The more obvious and basic commands, such as B. Uninstall the application, restart the phone, restart the router. I have gone as far as trying two different iPhone models on different versions of iOS, an iPad and even an Android phone. Nothing worked. Please note that each response and each next step will take at least 24 hours or more. In the end, they admitted defeat and said they would return it. I politely mentioned that they might want to update their website to reflect that the app has been released and maybe offer some support options and things to try. Well, Revain, great as they are, quickly sent a replacement. A few weeks go by (how excited I was). Then finally opened the replacement. EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM. Connect the app, update the firmware and can't connect to WiFi. This time I go to the website and there are a lot of things to try such as: turn off the 5ghz wifi, move the device 5ft from the router, restart the computer, reset the settings return. All of them, without exception, have tried and failed. I unplug my old Anova (which the tech suggested I delete from my phone and account in a previous support call) and plug it back in about a minute later. As indicated in the instructions. This leads me to believe that there are several potential problems. 1. The firmware/technology on the Pro is very different (which seems odd when the basic functionality is the same, only the components are boosted). 2. The second machine is also bad, or 3. It has poorly designed software, application, or firmware that just doesn't work. Even though the previous support round was so painful (also only 8-5 East opened), I'm not wasting any more time. A quick call to Revane's support team. All the way back and I'll cook my next joule steak. I strongly recommend avoiding this machine.
