Meal replacement to help my digestive system 2 weeks to take a long break. If you have digestive issues, google "Elementary Cocktails"; I wanted to emulate that with this protein powder. (I have SIBO but it is also effective for IBS and various IBD's like Crohn's etc.) The results have been great so far! For use as an elemental cocktail for small and large intestine recovery, pea protein is easily absorbed by the body without passing much of the length of the small intestine. Not to mention that it contains tons of amino acids that help with a variety of other gastrointestinal and neurological symptoms. NOW powder has a very short ingredient list (horror!), very low sugar without the use of aspartame (they use xylitol - a natural sugar alcohol - and stevia), and a non-GMO pea protein isolate. The (mostly) elemental shake I use: Base: unsweetened, unflavored almond milk (not technically elementary, but oh well) For protein: NOW pea protein powder For carbs: 1 tbsp honey For fat: 1 tbsp cold-pressed coconut oils (melted to easy blending) For sodium: pinch of sea salt For added vitamins and minerals"Amazing Grass" powdered barley, wheat, and alfalfa (also technically non-elemental) Place all ingredients in a blender, puree, and enjoy! Coconut oil makes the smoothie a bit thicker, somewhere between liquid and pudding. I drink 4 of these shakes a day for just over 1600 calories. I'm currently missing solid foods, but the benefits to my stomach are worth it. The only reason I docked 1 star is because I also ordered NOW's DUTCH CHOCOLATE pea protein and it is MUCH tastier than this flavor.
