I confess that I am not used to using these flint lighters. It's difficult to push a flint head down the serrated metal barrel in the bowl (and get sparks) with one hand. To create sparks, you must squeeze the flint head AND apply downward force as you do so. Consider writing on the sidewalk with chalk. You have to click down while dragging the chalk across the sidewalk to draw a solid line. I can't complain too much about such an affordable product as it really sparks once you get the hang of it.
