Great product that solved our difficult van roof repair problem with ease

I found this tape to be a great solution for repairing a hole or tear in our RV's rubber roof membrane. I have tried other gasket materials with satisfactory results. When we had a large tear at a campground after driving a trailer under a low tree limb, I used this tape to seal the gap. I was so impressed I ordered more to replace the sealant on the ends of the roof where it connects to the aluminum trim. I've had leaks in this area twice. After resealing with this tape, everything is good and dry. This tape is one of the stickiest materials I've ever worked with, but the adhesion doesn't fully activate until pressure is applied. This makes it a little easier to work with than the world's stickiest material. You peel off the clear film from the gray side of the tape to reveal the adhesive spatula. When applying, first note that any air bubbles trapped under the tape cannot be squeezed out - the adhesion is that strong. Before applying, I wiped the area with acetone on a rag. that it works very well when the other person flattens a long piece of tape while I slowly peel off the clear film while applying pressure to ensure all the air underneath the tape is expelled. When applying, wipe the tape with any pressure. Printing can be done by hand or with a roller, but a small roller is very handy for large seams. If the area to be repaired is more than 3" wide, simply overlap consecutive strips of tape with a 1" overlap. This tape adheres well to overlapping Dicor sealant, but you can get a smoother finish by removing most of the old sealant. I removed a thick layer of old caulk by gently running a wire brush over a 4 inch hand sander. When used carefully, the wire brush did not damage the rubber membrane. This tape will not stick to silicone, so any seams or joints previously repaired with silicone sealant must be thoroughly cleaned of old silicone. ideal for seams in many devices or designs that you want to waterproof.
