This durable USB 3.1 enclosure from Startech was Linux (Fedora 29) ready. It also passes SMART commands to the disk, so you can use the smartctl command to view and verify that the disk is healthy. Performance is excellent as you would expect from USB 3.1. Requires a hex wrench to tighten the six small screws that hold the case together. They carefully included the tool in the box so you have everything you need. Just add your favorite hard drive or solid state drive.
