Review on 🐟 Aquapapa Bio Sponge Filter 20 or 40 Gallon Breeding Fry Betta Shrimp Fish Tank Aquarium (Ships from California, USA) by Rachel Yates

I like this type of filter but this one has a very strong chemical (petrochemical?) smell. I've been flushing for a long time with very little effect so I ran it with an air pump in a 5 gallon bucket of water for 5 days to see if I could fix the problem. I've changed the water about 8 times and the water still smells strong. When I started I could smell the water about ten feet from the bucket, but now I can smell the water when I'm about two feet above the bucket. Every day it gets better and better. It's been almost two weeks since I started the process. The smell was gone after 10 days of using the air pump and over 100 gallon water changes. I moved the filter to a 55 gallon tank with a canister filter. I will transfer him to a new guppy tank after seeding him with good bacteria.
