So the only reason to buy this in 2019 is to upgrade your PS2. Because let's face it, the only reason to buy one of the original games when the PS2 was new was to play Final Fantasy 12 (or whatever they were playing back then) and play an online game that you can. don't do anymore because I'm pretty sure the servers were taken down years ago. But I would recommend buying one of these (that's the "aftermarket" part) and trying to find an official Sony one and buying that too. The official Sony is the one that has working ethernet ports, but it has an IDE connector (the old industry standard for PC hard drives). It doesn't have Ethernet ports, but it does have a SATA port (the current industry standard for PC hard drives). Buy both and swap the SATA connector on one with the IDE connector on the other. Then buy an internal hard drive or SSD (whichever you prefer) of the capacity you want (either gigabytes or terabytes). Then download FreeMcBoot from the internet (you'll have to google it) and install it using a USB flash drive that you'll need to plug into the USB 1.0 port on the front of the PS2. Oh, and make sure you have a memory card in slot 1 when doing all of this. But no pirate games.

Pros
  • Computer accessories and peripherals
Cons
  • Big and bulky
