I bought this as storm shelter for my four cats all fully grown and between 10 and 16lbs so they are not small cats. I outfitted it with beds, hanging toys, and a tray in the corner to turn it into something they saw as a fun hangout rather than a prison. Apparently I succeeded because they love it and often sleep and play there. The cage is spacious enough for four cats, including a 16-pounder that has a "don't touch me" zone. This usually requires at least one of the cats to be on a shelf rather than the floor, but it also helped accommodate some of the beds and baskets they could have either inside or upstairs. The construction is solid, the doors lock so even my extraordinarily agile and smart cats can't open them, and the double doors open wide enough to accommodate large items like beds and trays. I bought cushions sold in the Midwest and a softer, more durable hammock to create comfortable seating areas. This is a 14 pound Maine Coon in the photo for scale. I told him to smile for the camera and he smiled.
