I have an old SLR camera with no fancy Wi-Fi capabilities. With a special Android cable (USB 2 GO?), I can use this SD card reader to quickly transfer my JPEG photos to Facebook and Google Photos with my phone. (I shoot in RAW+JPEG, so I have the JPEG files that my phone needs to transfer, but I still have higher quality RAW files to work with later in my photo software.) This transfer method is faster than that Using the camera cable. with my phone and also uses less battery than Bluetooth or Wi-Fi transmission. I think even if I had a fancier camera I would still prefer this method of card reading because it's so fast and energy efficient. I originally bought it for use with a Surface tablet, but the convenience of having it work with my phone made me not even test it there. However, the design of the product is slim and small enough to be carried comfortably with a Surface tablet in a simple neoprene sleeve, and it fits the overall aesthetic of the Surface and my other accessories.
