This little gem fits comfortably in my laptop, easily plugs into my laptop's USB-C port and allows for two standard USB ports, an SDHC card reader and SDTF. and an HDMI connection in a compact, high-quality and easy-to-carry adapter. I've been using it for a little over a week. I didn't notice any lag when reading data from connected external devices. I had no problems trying to use both USB ports and an SDHC card reader at the same time and transfer data from all three external devices to the laptop. It was definitely fast enough for me. The adapter got very hot at peak times. In summary this is a well designed quality product that is portable and functional. I wanted to use one of the adapters that fits snugly on the side of the MacBook; However, the one I tried didn't stay securely in place and caused the MacBook to wobble. While I don't prefer the "key" look, this is my favorite of the ones I've tried.
