This type of design are the exact types my local gym uses and I actually prefer these the best.Rubber coated to prevent floor and wall scratching and mars along with a firm, bowed grip handle with grooves for extra grip.The only problem (if you can call it that), is this dumbbell weighs almost a pound more than 35lbs. It is 13.7oz over spec. I double checked with my 30lb dumbbells that always come back at 29lbs 8oz on several scales as a checksum. As long as weights meet or exceed their listed capacity I am more than ok with that but depending on your needs for exacting tolerances, you should be aware.This isn't a problem and if you actually weigh dumbbells and even plates in many gyms and stores you will find variances even in the same set. As a precaution when working out I usually switch hands with sets of dumbbells assuming they aren't exactly equal and do sets of 4 vs three for equal distribution.With that being stated, this is a VERY high quality dumbbell that wouldn't be out of place in many top end gyms around the world.5/5
