Review on Refillable Turkish Pepper Mill With 4.2 Inch Manual Crank Handle - Antique Gold Spice Grinder By Bazaar Anatolia by Jeff Johnson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

An odd, little grinder

This is not like the usual pepper mill. The bulging part at the bottom is a container that pulls off leaving the actual cylindrical mill about three fingers high in your hand. I guess that' why they include a cute, little scoop. The grinding part is about halfway up the cylinder leaving a capacity of about two tablespoons in the chamber where you load the whole peppercorns. This is just as well because the sliding port you pour the corns through is small -- I loaded it over a bowl to catch all the ones that missed to put them back into the bottle. The output is slow; it took me four minutes to grind a teaspoon into the container. If you want to use it like a more traditional mill, pulling the container off to put grid directly onto a dish, the three-fingered grip makes it awkward to hold and turn the crank. It looks pretty sitting on the table, though.
