I saw a few critical comments about this lens. I believe if you are a professional photographer a critical review can be helpful. I've taken over 5,000 shots with this lens on several trips around the US and Europe. I find the Sony A6000 lens to be an excellent all-round lens. It is well balanced and covers the range required for travel in a single lens. I don't experience the excessive distortion that some have reported. Two great qualities of the lens are f4 throughout the zoom range and the lens doesn't pop out when zoomed in. Manual zoom, OSS and excellent balance allow me to shoot and shoot quickly in any situation. The A6000's 2x digital zoom extension covers wide to tele, which is what I need for all situations. The fast focus and excellent lens performance of the A6000 make it my favorite lens. I never took this lens off my A6000 on my recent trip to Paris, Amsterdam, Germany, Austria and Budapest. Several full-frame DSLR users switched their lenses from wide-angle to telephoto to capture shots I could easily point at, manually zoom in on, and shoot. They often missed the best shot when switching the lens. The only area I find critical is the performance video. The Sony RM-VPR1 remote control with multiterminal does not allow sufficiently fast zooming. This can be a function of the A6000 and/or the Sony RM-VPR1 multi-connector remote control.
