You get what you pay for! If I could afford the end tables I originally wanted at $1,000 each, I would be a little more picky about the quality. We are at the end of an extensive refurbishment/renovation of our house. This means that we have almost no money! To be honest, we decided to spend the extra money on a new mattress and dresser, which meant little space for the mid-century feel we're aiming for in our nightstands. I have to say for the money this is a great option. It's small enough for my husband's bedside table, sturdy enough, and looks exactly how we wanted it to. I'd rather put a tray or something on it because the quality of the wood probably won't stand up to water rings. There are no scuffs or scratches on the surface. The legs were easy to screw on. No major complaints. I'm happy.
